Q1. How does self storage work?

Place For Your Stuff rents units to individuals and businesses on a short-term or long-term basis. You may choose to rent your unit(s) on a month-to-month, three-month, six-month or one-year term. Your billing cycle begins the day you move in.

Q2. Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

No, we do not require a long-term commitment. We have month-to-month, three-month, six-month and one-year terms. Check out our Promotions tab for current promotions. 

Please note that we do not prorate, nor do we offer refunds.

Q3. Is there a benefit to signing a long-term agreement?

Place For Your Stuff often offers discounts for long-term storage. If you know that you require storage for one year or more, please contact us for our current storage promotions.

Q4. What size units do you have?

Place For Your Stuff offers 5', 10', and 20' wide units. All the units are 8' deep and 9' high.

If you require a 10' or 20' unit but none are available, we can offer multiple 5' units, side by side, for the price of a larger unit. If this option works for you, call our office so that we can ensure you receive two adjacent units. Please contact us for further information.

Please call our office if you are unsure how much storage space will be needed. We can ensure an empty unit nearby if you need to 'upsize'.

Q5. What are the payment options?

Place For Your Stuff accepts VISA/Debit and Mastercard/Debit. Our convenient account management allows you to pay your bills from the comfort of your home.

Alternatively, you can phone the office during business hours at (587)764-0119 to process a payment.

E-Transfer payments can be made to info@pfys.ca. Please note that e-Transfer payments will only be processed during business hours.

We encourage customers to set up reoccurring billing to avoid missing a payment. This can be set up when you login through the website.

Q6. When can I move in?

If there is an available unit that suits your storage needs, you can move in at any time.

Upon payment approval, you will receive a gate code. This gate code allows access to our facility, which is open 24/7.

Please note that e-Transfer payments will only be processed during business hours. This may affect your access to the facility. 

Q7. What do I do if I've forgotten my gate code?

You can contact the PFYS Storage Team at (587) 764-0119 or email us at info@pfys.ca during office hours to assist you.

Likewise, you can also visit your online account and look for the "Gate Access" tab to view your code.

Q8. Should I have storage insurance?

Yes, we recommend storage insurance for your belongings. Most home insurance policies cover your items in the storage unit. Please get in touch with your insurance provider to find out if you are covered.

Q9. Do I need to supply my own padlock for my storage unit?

Yes, please bring a padlock with you when you move in. When you rent a unit, a welcome email will be sent to  you which outlines details about accessing the facility as well as our recommendation on the type of padlock to use. 

Q10. Will my items be safe?

Our facility is completely fenced off with gate access only. Our 24/7 motion sensor security system records and follows movement within the facility and stores video footage in our database.

Q11. What if I'm late with a payment?

Please get in touch with us if you cannot make a payment on time.

If the amount is late, you will be locked out of your storage unit until you have paid the balance owed.

Please note that you will be locked out of all your storage units, even if only one unit has an outstanding balance.

Refer to your Storage Agreement regarding late fees you may incur.

Q12. How much notice is needed to vacate my rental unit?

Invoices are automatically sent out a week before the start of your billing cycle.

Please notify us of your move out date 7 days before your billing cycle commences to ensure you will not be charged for the next month. Your unit must be emptied the day before your billing cycle begins. 

Please note that we will need to confirm that your unit is empty and clean before finalizing your move-out. This will be completed during office hours. 

Q13. What is the move out process?

We require 7 days' notice of your move out to ensure that you are not charged for another billing cycle.

You can call our office during business hours or schedule your move out through the website when you login.

A unit inspection will occur within 2 business days of your move out date. Please refer to your Storage Agreement for cleaning fees that you may incur. Once we have confirmed your move out, we will finalize your account.

Q14. Do you have climate-controlled storage units?

No, our drive up storage units are located outside and allow you to pull a vehicle directly up to your storage unit to load and unload. They are not insulated so consider how your belongings will store in the winter.

Q15. Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

Liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials, and perishable are not allowed to be stored in units.

Q16. Can I park my RV or car on site?

No, we do not offer RV or car storage. We can refer you to St. Albert RV & Boat Storage, our neighboring business in ProNorth Industrial Park.

Q17. Who needs self storage?

Students, realtors, military, and homeowners:

  • To free up valuable storage space within the dormitory
  • To store possessions if studying abroad or relocation
  • To home stage a house when preparing it for sale
  • For storing household items such as clothes, bicycles, and hardware tools

Businesses:

  • To free up valuable office space by storing documents and files
  • For storing seasonal inventory or excess inventory
  • For use by sales representatives for storing sales samples
  • For tools or construction equipment
